Our ancestors were already active in the life sciences sector. From the 17th until the 20th century, medicinal plants were collected in Thuringia (Germany) and processed into ointments and tinctures in numerous small family businesses, including „Gebrüder Schmidt Söhne“ in Lichta. The so-called „hunchback pharmacists“ moved with their assortment, stacked on a back stretcher, over long distances, even into Switzerland. On one hand, they advised patients with medical content, and on the other hand also sold their own products B2B and D2C.
